July 19, 2018 Pohang Holds a Meeting to Communicate and Give Designation Certificatesto Promising Small Hidden ChampionsPohang City announced on July 19 that it held a meeting to communicate and give certificates tocompanies that were newly designated as promising small hidden champions. About 120 peopleparticipated in the event including Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City Government, ChairmanSeo Jae-won of Pohang City Council, staff of promising small hidden champions, heads of localfinancial institutions, and heads of R&D centers.During the meeting, certificates were given to 11 companies for their having been newly designatedas promising small hidden champions in 2018. In addition, previously selected companies gavepresentations on their achievements.Pohang City Government’s project to foster small hidden champions has been pursued so far bydesignating 54 companies in the region with high growth potential as the target for its support. As aresult, the companies posted a 4.3% sales growth and 1.7% employment increase last year despitethe difficult economic environment both in Korea and the world.
